The "beast" car

My Dad began restoring a 1972 VW Super Beetle for my mom in October and it's finished! Today was the big reveal. It's AMAZING! You can read the whole story on my mom's blog.

My burn wounds healed so fast I might be part Wolverine...

For the past few years, everytime the Gap had men's button-downs on sale, I would try them on with the hope that they were small enough for me, alas they are made to fit strapping American men so, no, they would never fit. But now I live in Spain where men in general are smaller and wear their clothes tighter, so much to my delight they fit! I also found this really cute-super cheap shorty sweater at H&M in my new favorite fall color. :)

Pasta and Pesto

If I had a euro for everytime one of us said: "When it's not so hot I will..." (bake, not sweat all the time, *actually* enjoy life outside the apartment, etc).... I would probably have a lot of euros. ANYWAY, Stacy's been wanting to try making homemade pasta (and pesto) for awhile now and since her cheese gal at the market returned from vacation... it was time. She was the pasta mastermind and I was her sous chef. Which basically meant I helped her with whatever she needed, took pictures and provided the entertainment... and was entertained. :)

Somewhere between the well of flour and egg and the sticky blob, somewhere in the "mutter mutter, exclamation, mutter mutter" she said "Maybe Germans shouldn't make noodles..."

But after 10 minutes of "enthusiastic kneading," it turned into beautiful dough.

Which was then "draped" over the couch so it could dry out a little.

What Not To Wear

Nikki and Stacy came home from their vacation today bearing gifts. A tiny pocket knife?? Amazing! Also on today's list of events: I was ironing and my aneurysm flared up and I grabbed the FRONT of the iron... so here you can see my very red fingers and my budding blisters. Stupid. (Also, not sure what's up with the man-hands... I blame the burn. and water retention.)

I fell asleep in my contacts last night. Maybe it was Doctor Who. Maybe it was because it was a new pair (and they felt so heavenly after I’d been wearing the other pair for… too long). At any rate, It’s a glasses kind of day.
